How Social Media is Influencing Designer Abaya Trends?

In recent years, the fashion world has been making space for Muslim women. From social media influencers to Muslim designers, this movement has gone global and is influencing many aspects of the industry.

The Islamic clothing market has been growing steadily. Retailers have curated edits dedicated to modest apparel.

1. Instagram

Instagram is an image-sharing app. It was originally known as an "instant camera" and "telegram."

It is a powerful tool for fashion vloggers and social media stars to create a following by posting their latest looks. Many of them wear abayas and promote modest clothing brands that cater to their followers' needs.

Abaya-wearing influencers are using Instagram to promote their business and share their style with the rest of the world. Some are even launching their own abaya designs that are infused with a contemporary look to match the demands of Muslim women worldwide.

2. Twitter

Twitter, a micro-blogging app that emerged from a podcast venture. It is an online platform where users share updates in the form of short messages (tweets). Muslim fashion has emerged as a trending topic sharing their modest clothing selections. These influencers have helped to increase access to and awareness of modest clothing worldwide, and have become role models for Muslim women.

The rise of this new generation has resulted in a more inclusive fashion industry, with brands focusing their collections on Muslim shoppers. Moreover, many Western designers have increased their investment in modest apparel. This is indicative of a growing global demand for the abaya, which has been reinterpreted as high fashion.

3. Facebook

Many Muslim women value their identity and want to find a way to show it through fashion. This trend has recently caught the attention of many fashion brands. Some of these designs have incorporated the Islamic faith, such as a dress with the Prophet Mohammed’s name on the front. Others have incorporated traditional abayas in a contemporary, high-fashion manner.

While some of these designer abayas have been criticized by Islamic groups, others have received positive feedback from consumers. It is a promising trend that is showing great potential to grow in the future.

These trends reflect a growing middle-class Muslim consumer base, dubbed Generation M. These young consumers are proud of their Muslim identity and are looking for ways to integrate it with modern, fashionable looks.

4. YouTube

The abaya is a traditional black robe worn by Muslim women. It is often adorned with colorful embroidered trims.

The concept behind the abaya is to keep one’s body hidden from men. However, over time there has been a trend amongst designers to create less-formal abayas that are more comfortable and wearable. Some examples include abayas with cross stitch patterns and butterfly embroidery.

YouTube is a video-sharing application. The site is credited with changing the way people share videos online. It allows its users to share video content such as movie trailers, commercials, news broadcasts, and other clips with others. Many influencers are making videos on how to style abayas and post them on YouTube for their viewers.
